Say no more!

The Swedish system is built up on an enormous public sector. More than 50% of GDP in Sweden is taken in to the state and the municipalities as tax and other duties. Probably half the workforce is employed by an official authority in one way or another. Beside all the voluntary politicians there are a lot of people in the position to enhance their wealth trough their positions.

The social democratic governance during a century has elevated all those people to a level above doubt. Hence there are no mechanisms for control built in to the law.

Whenever the issue about corruption comes up in the Swedish state-controlled media, they point to the law of public tendering (TED). The law of public tender is the only mechanism in the Sweden aiming at corruption. This since the law is enforced by the EU. Look we have a law against corruption!!!! We proudly present our law against corruption. The Swedish anti-corruption law hallelujah.

When a municipality, authority or the state sell property, there are no such regulations. The price, the buyer and the circumstance for the transfer is egal. There are no procedures for announcement in the market. The price is mainly an agreement between the municipal commissioner and his nephew.

In the Case study #1 the municipality create a platform for control of the written word. The news media, supposed to scrutinize the political power. Now serving the political establishment by establish the biased truth.

To sell a public property to someone for an agreed price, far below the market price, without announcement on the market or competition with other buyers, is not illegal due to the Swedish law.

The first article of the Swedish constitution translated by Google

  • All public power in Sweden is based on the people.
  • The Swedish democracy is based on free opinion formation and on universal and equal suffrage. It is realised through a representative and parliamentary system of government and through municipal self-government.
  • Public power is exercised under the laws.

The first and the last part is contrary. The first part states that anything decided by the elected representatives is according to the will of the people. The public power doesn’t wants any laws messing up their decision making. Hence there are no laws regulating the decision making of elected representatives. Therefore, Sweden don’t have any constitutional court. There is no need since our representatives are above all doubt.

The municipalities have laymen accountants, who are designated persons selected from within the political parties. They are so to say controlling themselves.

The municipalities pay great amount of money to the certified accountant giants like PWC and KPMG. They make reports about the municipality congruence with the law. Since there are no laws regulating the activities of the political establishment on municipality level there will not be any eye-catching reveals. But the accountant reports are good to have if anyone question their ethics.
