A search for Julian Assange on the Amnesty s “freedom of expression tab” give zero hits!
Every year in December someone is calling from Amnesty International begging for a donation. The last twelve years I have asked, what do you do for Julian Assange. Not a single action from the left leaning organization AI when an Australian citizen is kept in custody without trial for twelve years.
It is obvious that the definition of human rights is for humans outside of the western world. Or at least people of colour living here. The high moral that emanates from our leftist democracy makes it possible to press charges for any experienced offence by the oppressed groups.
Amnesty International did not act on the Guantanamo Bay either. Julian Assange revealed treatment of civilians and prisoners violating the human rights. But that humans are not included in the neat cohort defined for the western world to feel compassion for. And Julian himself is obviously not included either. Make an act of kindness, spit on a journalist!
